A wave of support and prayer has swept through the Dallas hockey community after 12-year-old goalie Jackson Trese, known affectionately as “Little Tree,” was seriously injured in an accident on Thursday, June 26.
Jackson, a standout goaltender for the Dallas Stars Elite 2012 team, remains hospitalized at Dallas Children’s Medical Center. According to team officials, he is currently recovering with cautious optimism, and the last 24 hours have brought “positive updates.”
In a heartfelt statement, Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club shared their support:
“The DSEHC family sends up a massive collective prayer for Jackson’s speedy and full recovery, as well as comfort and peace to his parents, Julie and Steve, and big sister, Claire. We invite everyone in the #GreenHelmets community to join us at tonight’s vigil.”
The team has organized a prayer vigil for Jackson on Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 PM. Supporters will gather on the top floor of the Blue Parking garage at Children’s Medical Center, located at 1935 Medical District Drive in Dallas. Attendees are encouraged to wear their team jerseys and bring a hockey stick in solidarity.
In homes across Texas and beyond, people are also placing hockey sticks outside their doors — a silent but powerful symbol of hope and honor for their injured teammate.
Meg Tillman, a family friend, urged the community to keep praying:
“Please join our family in prayer for Jackson. He’s shown his hockey-tough spirit already, but he and his family still need our strength. They’re the kindest, most generous people we know — and we’re wrapping them in love.”
The Roadrunner Hockey Club and the wider roller hockey community also joined in the outpouring of support:
“We are calling for our roller community to cover this sweet family in prayer. Pray for Jackson to have a speedy and full recovery.”
Jackson “Little Tree” Trese has long been admired not just for his talent on the ice but for his spirit, heart, and leadership. In the world of youth hockey, he’s known as a fierce goalie and a loyal teammate.
As the Dallas hockey world holds its breath, one thing is certain: Jackson Trese is not fighting alone.
